It became apparent back in the mid-1980’s that some simple means needed to be devised to identify and track these Special Run releases. David Sootsman, former Editor of The N-Scale Reference Guide, came up with the solution…a simple ID Numbering System where every MicroTrains Special Run car (and pack) could be assigned a specific ID number unique to that item that could be used by collectors to identify the many different Special Run releases being produced. Today, the N-Scale Collector assigns Special Run ID Numbers. We use the exact same system as established by Dave Sootsman some 15+ years ago. The only improvement is that now the ID numbers more closely follow the chronological order that the cars are ordered and released from the MicroTrains factory.

The items listed have either already been announced by their Producers, are available for sale or have been approved to be included in our listings for future releases. Also, please note that the N-Scale Collector has already assigned ID Numbers to specific Special Run Projects where the Producers have requested that we do not release information at this time, thus the gap in the numbers. All release dates are "tentative" as production delays can occur. Purchase information has been included where available. Please contact the Producers directly with any questions.
