Specially lined tank stainless steel containers each holding 4,000 gallons was developed by Glascote Products of Cleveland in1939. The National Car Company 52 foot flat cars each carried 2 of these containers which would be transported to processing plants in larger metropolitan areas. THE PRECIOUS CARGO OF milk would be well protected from farm to processor by this mode of transport and cots of transport would be economical as well. Container transport has become the rage in the,modern era,but the idea became popular long ago, with the Dairy express, the Railroad's essential idea to speed milk from farm to market.
